“Confirmation is a public rite of the church preceded by a period of instruction designed to help
baptized Christians identify with the life and mission of the Christian community.” (Luther's Small Catechism)

True enough, but what does that mean?  Confirmation is often known by its individual parts or requirements such as: the teaching of the faith, service projects in the Name of our LORD, sermon notes, memory work, and the like.  However, that's barely true enough.

So what is Confirmation?Confirmation properly understood is the church coming alongside the parents of young children to provide a structured approach for their child's life-long journey of discipleship.  It's not graduation or a rite of passage, but a time of equipping and engagement with the faith like never before.  Here at Abiding Savior Lutheran that instruction is offered to many, but traditionally to those in the day school or public school; 7th and 8th grades.  Call or email for details.
